For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Yvette, and I am the owner/designer creator behind She Loves Blooms. I am the one coming up with all these new ideas for the brooches that you see on our website.

I try to make it a point to be as involved as I can in the process of designing the brooches - I mean, at the end of the day She Loves Blooms has pretty much become my little baby.

The process of coming up with a brooch idea is the easy part for me. In fact, it is the actual implementation of the design that takes a lot of time and energy. I am keeping in mind the brooches which I design mean something, as opposed to a mere accessory.

In other words, I want my brooches to leave a mark in this world - however small. I want them to be the instigators to a conversation. I want them to facilitate difficult discussions and be visual reminders of the world we live in, and our histories.

It is for this reason, aside from the fact that my academic background is in Human Rights, that I tend to dedicate a lot of my time to keep up-to-date with current international affairs - mainly those related to human rights, the environment, and animal rights.

And from the stories that capture my attention, or those that have impacted me in one way or another, I end up coming up with a new brooch design idea.

Let’s be honest, with how the world has been lately; there is no scarcity of awful events that happen daily. And the tricky part, for me at least, is trying to choose which one to highlight for my new designs. This is why I try to focus my designs on events that have touched me on a personal level.

And, at the end of the day, the whole point of these brooches is to facilitate a conversation about human rights, the environment, and animal welfare, right? So whatever conversation that ensues as a result of my brooch(es) means I am on the right track to fulfilling She Loves Blooms’ vision - brooch with a cause.

Ciao, for now, my dears, and remember to stay tune for the launch of our latest brooch – Ellie the Elephant - dedicated to raising awareness on the issue of endangered animals! I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on for the past few months.
